Travelling solo in Romania: a video summary

Surdesti, Maramures
From end of December 2016 until mid-January 2017, I travelled solo in Romania for about three weeks, mainly in the region called Maramures. Why solo and why Romania?! This you can see in another post. And what a trip that was! I have discovered so many things about my country, my heritage, but most of all about myself. This is a visual summary of what I have done in those days.

You will see: the video and the pictures are not very professional, actually I did not even have in mind of publishing anything when I did my trip. But one evening my iphone decided to play this video, with visuals from my winter holidays put together. And I simply loved it.

To make a short summary, I started my trip in Baia Mare, then went to Sighetul Maramatiei, Ocna Sugatag, Viseu de Sus and ended in Cluj-Napoca, from where I flew back to Brussels. These are the places where I was accommodated but I did many one-day-trips to see villages and places I always wanted to see and never got the time to do it.

I saw many UNESCO heritage wooden churches, the Merry Cemetery in Sapanta, the Museum dedicated to the victims of communism. I took a ride with Mocanita, visited secluded villages and admired the landscape with pure nature. I met amazing people, kind and heart-warming and despite the fact that I was travelling solo, I did not feel alone.

I finally took the time and had that moment with myself I really needed after a terrible 2016. I was really far away from everything and everyone. It was calm, quiet, mesmerising, uplifting.

And for those who don’t have 8 minutes, here is a summary of a summary
